O.M.G.Y.H.T.R.T.B

O.M.G.Y.H.T.R.T.B.
Otherwise known as “Oh My Gosh You Have To Read This Book
Title:The Tiger Rising
Author: Kate DiCamillo

The Tiger Rising is AMAZING! A book filled with a lot of adventure. At level S and is a great book for grade 4, 5, and 6. The Tiger Rising has the best setting ever, a school and a motel. Children can relate to thing that happen in this book. This book is filled with danger, so do not try things in the book at home. You have to read it!

Shh!

Over the past few weeks, Mrs. Clayton and us were working on our persuasive writing pieces. We worked so hard and finally got it done. In this essay, I will be persuading you to lower your volume during bus rides.

Some things that I think I did well is using repetition. I think that because I used it throughout the essay. In one of my paragraphs, I used repetition only. Another thing I think I did well is adding lots of mini stories.

Things to work on can be to use more transition words. I only spotted some transition words in the beginning of paragraphs. I also might want to work on including facts to my essays.

I hope you all enjoy my essay!

UN Day Celebration

UN day is here. Each class was assigned to make a project that was shown on the UN day celebration. This is the video my and Mr.D's class made together which we used for the UN Celebration at the auditorium. There were many enjoyable presentations that were made by other classes. If you are wondering which author I was working on, it was the first one, Gary Paulsen. Hope you enjoy!

My Violin Concert

What a treat to see this week's Rock Star, Johan, share his amazing talent on the violin. It made us all shout out,  "Encore, Encore!"  Click here to see the blog post on Mrs. Clayton's  Rock Star Blog!

The Science Center

Today my class went to the Science Center with Ms Asni and 4 parents. The parents who came were my mom, Julia's mom, Alexa's dad, and Nate's dad (Nate's group called themselves Team Thomas, I thought that was a cool team name). Ms Guettler's class was also joining the fun. We were split up into 4 groups each lead by parent.

Before we got to go around the Science Center, we went to something called The Kitchen Lab. You might be wondering, "What? This is a Science Center, not cooking class!" Well, we were there to make candy, Lollipops and Cotton Candy. First we made lollipops. We weren't making those fancy lollipops, we were making homemade lollipops! I was surprised that how little ingredients we needed to use, but we needed a lot of it. I read the board for how much of each ingredient we needed, 7 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of water, and 3 tablespoons of corn syrup! I read it again to make sure I was correct, Ya I'm correct I thought.

Me and Harrison went up to the front to get the ingredients. Then we went over to the food coloring and flavoring section. I we picked strawberry flavoring and green food coloring. We stirred the mixture for around 15 mins and waited for it to harden for another 15-20 mins. I was really tired holding the toothpick(they acted like the straws in lollipops). Then we stared to make the cotton candy. We added colored sugar into the center of the machine and we made cotton candy.

Ms Clayton Surviving The 3.5 Million Bolt Of Electricity
Another thing that happened at the main part of the science center is that Ms Clayton survived 3.5 million bolts of electricity. She was in a cage sitting on a chair with a bolt of energy above her. I also got to do something like that but more kid friendly. We held up a metal stick and the electricity made the sticks glow. I was nervous at first but then I realized it was nothing.

I really enjoy going to the science center. Hopefully everyone is ok. There were many new exhibits and again I really enjoyed being there. :D

The United Class Of Mrs. Clayton

Hello! This is my second narrative piece. The only difference in this piece and the first piece is that this piece is a different story and we did this independently. This time Flip Snack wasn't being a stinker, so this piece was published really quickly. We got a shorter time to write this piece, from draft to now. I had a lot of fun drafting this piece. If you are wondering, this piece has 828 words. I counted every single word in this story. I'm just kidding, I used word count.

If you haven't read the first story the click here. The only thing I can say now is enjoy and fell free to comment!!!

The Ride Is In Me

This piece took around 2 months to make. The writing got better each day, step by step. Transferring the piece to a website that makes the piece into a book (http://www.flipsnack.com/) was the stinker. After lots of stress transferring the piece, this is the final product.

Well, I hope you enjoy the story and feel free to comment on what you like.
