How have you grown as a writer?
I learned how to zoom and slow down on the moment. I also learned how to shorten down the less important parts of the story. More details on the moment, less on non-important stuff.
What new skills do you feel more confident to apply to your narrative writing?
I've learn how to make my leads better with a skill called SACRED seed leads. Each letter in sacred stands for a way to start your story. I also learned a skill called How Do I Do DAT. It's a way to make the body of the writing better. For the conclusion, we end with a "So What. These are 3 skills I feel more confident to apply to future narrative writing pieces.
What challenges did you face when writing your personal narrative?
When I first wrote the story, I didn't zoom into the moment. I had a lot of unimportant details. It was a bit of a challenge to focus on the moment.
How have you surprised yourself as a writer?
When I read my story, I had some emotional sentences. I didn't know I could write like that!
What feedback did you receive that will help you to grow as a writer?
I received a lot of constructive feedback. Most of the feedback told me to zoom in even more into the heart of the story.

Kangaroos and Tasmanian Devls
Here it is, the last writing piece for the year. It's about Kangaroos and Tasmanian Devils. This was an independent writing piece which we had to complete in about a week. I choose to do a non-fiction because I liked Pages and just doing it. One problem was that I kind of forgot how to publish a pages doc on the blog. So I checked my previous non-fiction and remembered how to do it. This time around, publishing the pages doc wasn't hard. I really enjoyed writing this non-fiction.

Christalite Methodist Home
Today, our class went to the Christalite Methodist Home. Last time we went, we decorated Santa Hats with the people who stayed there. This time we let them decorate Hearts and make pasta Necklaces. I enjoyed going to the Home the first time because there was more people there. It was really hard to get people to come make the hearts and necklaces because everyone was eating their lunch. I really enjoyed being there both times.

Tibetan Singing Bowls
When we were lying down with our eyes closed, he was playing the bowls. It sounded amazing. When he played it, I saw 2 things in my mind. Color and happy moments in my life. The other thing I felt was ringing. It felt like it was coming from the floor.
I experience a lot from this.

Images Of Singapore

One thing Greg and I learned is that walking on fire is not a punishment, it is a tradition. Another thing that we learned was that early construction workers were girls. The final thing I learned is about the 4 rings or winds that made Singapore. Each country had their own belief. They were, to have family, to have community, to have peace, and to have harmony. Those 4 people who told their country's worked together and made a lot of Singapore.
I had lots of fun during this field trip.

Christalite Methodist Home (Service Learning Trip)
Today, December 12, 2013, we went to Christalite Methodist Home. I think it was a great experience to help old people and act like a teacher. There was so many people living there. First we went to a room to do arts and crafts with them for like an hour. After all out materials were all used, we went down stairs to sing on a stage. We were singing in their cafeteria area. I really enjoyed it and I'm really looking forward to the next trip in February. I hope everybody else enjoyed it as much as I did.

Crunches
Here is a short video of me doing crunches. I think I did good.
- I went high enough
- I didn't drag myself up
- I kept my feet on the ground
No one is perfect, so here are things to work on.
- Stop putting my hands on the floor
- Keeping my back straight
Tell me in the comments below, what I could work on because I'm not good at crunches.

In the comments below, tell me what I could have done better because I know I horrible at it.
Message for Wonder

I think that the message of the story is don't judge someone by how they look. At the beginning of the story, August was being picked on by other 6th graders because of how his face was deformed. Some students thought that he was stupid because this is his first year of being in a school. Before school started, Mr. Tushman got 3 students to tour August around the school. One of them started telling August, "This is an eraser, this is a pencil...". Students act like he is like sticky cheese, like in Diary Of A Wimpy Kid. Instead of the "cheese touch", it was called the plague. August was like the cheese, so all his friends would have the plague. They just made this up because he looked like he wasn't right for this school.
That is why I think that the message of Wonder don't judge someone by how they look. Next time you go into a library, check out Wonder By R.J. Palacio. I am sure you will enjoy it!

The Tiger Rising is AMAZING! A book filled with a lot of adventure. At level S and is a great book for grade 4, 5, and 6. The Tiger Rising has the best setting ever, a school and a motel. Children can relate to thing that happen in this book. This book is filled with danger, so do not try things in the book at home. You have to read it!

UN Day Celebration
UN day is here. Each class was assigned to make a project that was shown on the UN day celebration. This is the video my and Mr.D's class made together which we used for the UN Celebration at the auditorium. There were many enjoyable presentations that were made by other classes. If you are wondering which author I was working on, it was the first one, Gary Paulsen. Hope you enjoy!

The Science Center
Today my class went to the Science Center with Ms Asni and 4 parents. The parents who came were my mom, Julia's mom, Alexa's dad, and Nate's dad (Nate's group called themselves Team Thomas, I thought that was a cool team name). Ms Guettler's class was also joining the fun. We were split up into 4 groups each lead by parent.
Before we got to go around the Science Center, we went to something called The Kitchen Lab. You might be wondering, "What? This is a Science Center, not cooking class!" Well, we were there to make candy, Lollipops and Cotton Candy. First we made lollipops. We weren't making those fancy lollipops, we were making homemade lollipops! I was surprised that how little ingredients we needed to use, but we needed a lot of it. I read the board for how much of each ingredient we needed, 7 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of water, and 3 tablespoons of corn syrup! I read it again to make sure I was correct, Ya I'm correct I thought.
Me and Harrison went up to the front to get the ingredients. Then we went over to the food coloring and flavoring section. I we picked strawberry flavoring and green food coloring. We stirred the mixture for around 15 mins and waited for it to harden for another 15-20 mins. I was really tired holding the toothpick(they acted like the straws in lollipops). Then we stared to make the cotton candy. We added colored sugar into the center of the machine and we made cotton candy.
Another thing that happened at the main part of the science center is that Ms Clayton survived 3.5 million bolts of electricity. She was in a cage sitting on a chair with a bolt of energy above her. I also got to do something like that but more kid friendly. We held up a metal stick and the electricity made the sticks glow. I was nervous at first but then I realized it was nothing.
I really enjoy going to the science center. Hopefully everyone is ok. There were many new exhibits and again I really enjoyed being there. :D

Crunches In P.E.
Strengths
I feel that...
- I didn't go very high, but enough to touch my knees
- Didn't move my legs much
Areas Of Improvement
I feel that I should...
- Touch the floor with my hands before doing the next crunch

The First Two Weeks Of School
The First Two Weeks Of Grade 5
I have enjoyed the first weeks of school! Why? You would ask, because i'm in Mrs. Clayton's rock star class and I have a lot of new friends. August 23,2013 (2nd week of school) , the whole grade 5 went to the Jurong East Water Park. I bet everyone was all crazy because SAS took over the whole water park.
My friend Minsuk, one grade older than me, was in this class (Mrs. Clayton) last year. So he has been telling me all about grade 5. He was telling me how grade 5 was like it was nothing. But now, I'm expecting the unexpected. Math, is called Puzzles in here. Science in the class is called, Mad Scientist.
There is so much fun in grade 5. One thing I didn't tell you was the morning announcements are done by 5th graders. I'm going to do the announcements next monday (August 26,2013). I practiced and I'm ready to roll. Grade 5 is going to be awesome!
