Electromagnetic Fishing Pole

My fishing pole works because it is an electromagnet. An electromagnet works because it produces a magnetic field around a wire in a completed circuit, meaning that the electric current can flow through all the components of the circuit. To make the magnetic field stronger, you have to coil it around a nail.

My Electromagnetic Fishing Pole
To make my fishing pole, I used a nail, two meters of wire, a wooden stick, two double A batteries, a battery holder, and some aluminum foil. The aluminum foil was the switch because it could hold the electric current coming from the wire underneath it. To turn on the current, you have to take the other wire and touch it with the aluminum foil. The switch works because the wires only produce a magnetic field around themselves when the circuit is complete. Basically, the switch breaks and completes the circuit.
